To add another recipe to idli i tried with gouthumai ravai..It came out well....I’m reposting it to send this for Veggie platter.
Ingredients:
Gouthumai ravai (Broken wheat ravai Coarse) - 1 1/4 cup
Idly rice - 1 1/4 cup
Urud dhal -1/2 cup
Green chillies-4
Salt - 2.5 tbsp
Procedure:
Soak urud dhal and rice for atleast 4 hours and gouthumai ravai for 1 hour.Grind the urud dhal to a smooth paste.Then grind idly rice along with green chillies to a coarse paste and while taking it out of grinder/blender add the gouthumai ravai( I used coarse,fine ravai can also be used) and grind for another 10 minutes or until the paste is evenly coarse.
Allow the batter to ferment for 8 hours.Apply oil to the idly molds and pour the batter and steam cook for 10 minutes.Switch off the stove and allow it to cool.Then remove the idlies from the mold and serve hot with sambar or Chutney .

A lovely platter of idlies. I like this idea of adding wheat to idlies, making it more healthier. Thanks for sending it over.
